about

Egzoz is Archie McKay (Vox), Chris Sollars (Guitar, Vox, Lighter), Erdem Eroğlu (Drums, Vox & Megaphone)

"Smoking Jacket" is a collage cut from flange and feedback guitar, explosive drumming, and a variation of spit and soft vocals that outline a city of excess and dearth. 12 songs that take listeners on a narrative journey through the uncanny streets and backside bars of Beyoğlu. The album's artwork prominently features a tailored smoking jacket made from a scanned and enlarged cigarette pack, designed by Sollars and documented by photographer Emre Başak.

The album is divided into two sides. Side 1, known as "Gündüz" (daytime), invites listeners to experience the heart of a ghost-filled city, malfunctioning lifts, self-aggrandizing phones, international etiquette, 18th-century toilet commodities during the day shift, hole-in-the-wall psyches, and the vices of wine in a bar. Side 2, "Gece" (nighttime), explores the end of cars, religious charlatans in the south of Turkey, gatherings that lead to disunity, 18th-century toilet commodities during the night shift, a SlightlyCatholic perspective on the disenfranchised, and a moment of respite/restraint in a smoking jacket.
